DC612 – Tuesday, September 6th – 6pm @ the Wilde Roast
DC612 is back in September for a special First Tuesday of the Month edition!
We’re excited to be welcoming Jim Hall, founder and coordinator of the FreeDOS project!
Over twenty years ago, as Microsoft announced that it would end support for the MS-DOS operating system, James Hall announced to the world that he intended to create a public domain version of the OS in order to keep the universe of character-based DOS software alive. Hall’s “PD-DOS” project eventually became FreeDOS, which today supports an ecosystem of developers, retro gamers, and diehards who will give up their WordStar when you pry the floppies from their cold, dead fingers.

See everyone at our new location! Wilde Roast Cafe in NE Minneapolis!

UPDATE – July Meeting Location Change
We just learned that Community Keg House has shut down!
After many frantic phone calls, I managed to secure a room at Kafé 421 in Minneapolis at the normal time of 6PM. They were kind enough to book us last-minute at no charge, so please save your appetites and order something there.

Sorry for the confusion!

DC612 Meeting Thursday, July 14th – 6PM @ Community Keg House
Hello!
This month’s meeting will again be at the Community Keg House in Minneapolis.
As this is the last meeting before the DefCon in Vegas, I will be doing a short presentation on what exactly DefCon is. I’ll cover some of the things you can expect to see, give some general survival tips, and share some cool experiences from cons past.
If you are planning on going and it is your first time, this is a great chance to ask questions and help prepare. And if you are on the edge about going, hopefully this will convince you! Obviously those of you who have been there before and will be returning need no convincing 🙂
See you then!

DC612 Meeting Thursday, June 9th – 7PM @ Community Keg House
Hey folks!
This month’s meeting will once again be at the lovely Community Keg House in Minneapolis.
We’re starting a little later than usual this time due to a reservation just before us, so plan to meet out in the main area if you’ll be showing up early – we can always eat and drink until our room becomes available!
We’ll be visited this month by Chad Walker, a local security professional who will be showing us Cryptomancer, a “tabletop role-playing game made for hackers, by hackers.” From the site:
It features an original fantasy setting and gameplay informed by diverse security disciplines. Players assume the role of characters on the run from a shadowy organization that rules the world through mass surveillance, propaganda, and political coercion.
Sounds like a pretty normal day 🙂
Afterwards we might get to enjoy a MISC conference debriefing, so stick around!
